36 Hi Father, I got married in a Catholic church in England. I would like to have a holy mass and a get together as a way to celebrate my marriage with my relatives back in Kerala. Could you please let me know what is the procedure. Can I get this done by showing my marriage certificate to my Parish priest in India. I have heard about a permission letter from my home parish priest very lately for permission to get married in another parish. I didnt produce this as our parish priest in England ddidnt ask for this as he checked the authenticity with the civil authories along with our Baptism and catechism certficates. 52 Dear Father, I have been abroad (US) for the past 4 years. My marriage has been recently fixed and I am now going to India for Betrothal (engagement). I heard from one of my friends that, you need to produce a certificate from your parish priest (here in US) if you have been abroad for more than six months- which states that you have not been married here. I have been going to a church which is close by by (English Mass), but I am not part of the parish nor do I know the Priest. Is this mandatory before engagement?
