Description

I.                  MARIA SHANTHI BHAVAN (Old age home)

Maria Shanthi Bhavan is the fruit of the joint effort of CMC Mary Matha Province Angamaly and Divine Retreat Centre, Muringoor. It was started on 20th November 2003 for poor aged women.

On 16th July 2002 at the time of the blessing of reconstructed Joe Bhavan, both the superiors of CMC Mary Matha Province and the fathers of Divine Retreat Centre, inspired by the Holy Spirit gave a form to this venture. Mother Borromeo CMC the Provincial Superior laid the foundation stone on 10th February 2003.

Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Mathew Thadathil, the construction got over soon. Mar Sebastian Edayanthrath, the Auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly, did the blessing ceremony on 20th November 2003. On 3rd December, under the leadership of Sr. Traisy and late Sr. Sherin Clare, 22 inmates started living here. Prayerful atmosphere, Holy Hours, daily celebration of the Holy Eucharist, breaking of the Word of God etc., help them to heal their wounds and to go ahead with hope. They are actively involved in cutting vegetables needed for Divine Retreat Centre, making covers for the dispensary and gardening. Catechism students, nursing students and members belonging to different associations give them love and joy. Counseling facilities make available for them twice in a week.

The patroness day of the house is celebrating on 16th July.  They are very active in cultural programme and competitions. At present the total strength is 60.
