The Details of the Funeral Service of His Grace Archbishop Joseph Chennoth

You might have already known of the sudden and sad demise of His Grace Archbishop Joseph Chennoth (76), the Apostolic Nuncio to Japan, on 7th September 2020 in Japan.

The details of the funeral service of His Grace are given below: 

The mortal remains will be brought from Japan to Kochi Airport on 21st September 2020, Monday at 9.40 am and will be kept in the Mortuary of Lisie Hospital, Ernakulam. 

22nd September 2020, Tuesday: The body will be kept for viewing and paying homage at the following places:

1.    7.00 – 8.00 am          : Lisie Hospital Chapel, Ernakulam.

2.    8.30 – 9.30 am          : St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Ernakulam.

3.    11.30 – 12.00 noon : Chennoth House, Kokkamangalam, Cherthala.

4.    12.30 – 2.30 pm        : St. Thomas Church, Kokkamangalam, Cherthala.

The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Church, Kokkamangalam.

2.30 pm: Holy Eucharistic Celebration

Main Celebrant: His Grace Mar Antony Kariyil (The Metropolitan Vicar)

Homily: His Excellency Mar Jacob Manathodath (Bishop of Palakkad)

The final part of the funeral service will be officiated by His Eminence George Cardinal Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church.
